Inside the work

The central character encounters four deities representing East, West, South and North. Their journey draws on tuồng traditions to explore memory, belonging and the uncertainty of finding a place in contemporary society.

Creation & collaboration

Choreography and executive production by Tú Hoàng. Script, artistic direction and music direction by Nguyễn Quốc Hoàng Anh. Direction and scenography by Hà Nguyễn Long. A collaboration between Lên Ngàn, Tú Hoàng and Vietnam National Tuồng Theatre, with theatre production by XplusX Studio. Performed by Tú Hoàng, Nguyễn Duy Thành, Tom Pham, Trần Công Tuấn Anh, Nhơn Võ and Võ Trọng Nghĩa. Choreographic assistance by Isabel Nguyen Dao. Costumes by Vạn Thiên Y. First presented at Hồng Hà Theatre, Hanoi, 2–4 August 2024.
